Either 25% or 50% of your quoted amount is the down payment and it is due prior the moving services beginning, and the residual balance is due once the moving services have been completed or if your move is a flat rate then you will need to pay prior to the unload.

Yes, we are a fully insured and licensed moving company. We have the authority from the federal government to engage in interstate commerce anywhere in the country and we also hold intrastate authorities in the states that require them in which we conduct most of our business. Unfortunately, to avoid incurring the transaction fee on your invoice you must pay with cash or through an ACH transfer.

Yes, the movers will call or text you when they are on their way to your home. If you need them to call you at a certain time before they arrive, please let us know so we can relay the message to the crew members prior to your move.

If you need to reschedule or cancel your move that is not an issue. If you need to reschedule your move, just call us and we will try to work around your schedule as much as possible to get you in our calendar. There are no penalties for rescheduling your move. If you need to cancel your move, you will need to do so three days prior to your move date to receive your down payment for a local move and seven days for a long-distance move. The reason we would keep your down payment is because we need to plan our schedule with our operations and our crew members and that is a time-consuming process. If we are scheduling your move into our calendar, then we are guaranteeing our crew members work so they need to be compensated for their time which is why we would keep the down payment if you do not cancel within three days of your move for a local move and seven days before your long-distance move.

If you need to revise your inventory you can do so online by clicking on the “Manage Inventory” button that is found on the quote we sent you. This will allow you to modify your inventory to add or remove items. If you are not able to access the Manage Inventory option on your quote, then you can call, text, or email us and we can revise the inventory for you.

Yes, there are items that we are not permitted to move by law and there are some items we choose not to move for the safety of your belongings and our crew members. To view a list of items that are not allowed to be transported by Midwest Moving Company please click here: List of prohibited items.

Yes, you may keep your items in your dresser, but we always tell customers it is best to remove everything from the dresser. If the dresser is too heavy, then our movers may need to remove the items from the dresser and then put them back in once they are done moving it into the truck. If you believe the dresser may be too heavy to properly move and handle, then it is best to remove everything from the dresser. If you believe your dresser is light enough to be safely maneuvered while being moved without damaging the dresser or the surrounding areas, then you can leave the items in the dresser.

Yes, if you place your belongings in a garbage bag, we cannot guarantee the bag will not rip and the items within the bag will not get damaged. We do ask that if you place belongings into garbage bags that you use thick, contractor garbage bags to avoid them ripping and to not put anything that is fragile or of high value into the bags.

We do require that you purchase a mattress bag or a TV box to properly protect those items. If you decide to remove that from the quote, then we cannot take responsibility for those items if they get damaged if you did not place them in a proper packaging yourself. We do not mind if you prefer to use your own packaging to save money, our primary concern is that the items are well protected so we can transport them safely for you.

If there is an item you own that is not in our inventory system (whether the item is unique, or our system does not have it) that is fine. We will move everything you want us to if it is not on the list of prohibited items, just inform us of the item and we will put it in our notes for the crew members to see. If you inform the sales representative of everything, we are moving for you then we will be able to provide you with an accurate quote. If you have items that need to be moved but you did not inform us of them then your move may take longer then your bill may be higher if your move is being billed by the hour.

Your discount will be applied at the end of the move, and it will be reflected on the final invoice you receive.

Oftentimes, removing some items from your inventory may not impact the quote. Our sales representative’s factor in extra time to move your belongings which helps keep our quotes accurate. If your move is a flat rate and you are removing belongings from your quote, we recommend you call the sales representative you have been working with to check to see if it is possible to revise your quote.

We charge a bulky item fee for items that may be hazardous or ones that may require a third party to prepare the item to be moved. Oftentimes, a third party is used for exercise equipment and other similar items that may require specialty tools or an experienced technician to properly disassemble or assemble these items.

When the moving crew arrives to your home, give them a tour of your home, and point out which items are going where. If you have multiple stops involved in your move or if you need items to be placed in the dumpster or brought to the dump, then be sure to communicate with the crew to point these items out to avoid any mishaps during the moving process.

We recommend that all exercise equipment, large multi-piece furniture items like a hutch, and any other large or awkward items that may be difficult to move in one piece be disassembled. This allows us to properly handle the items you are having us move and to avoid any damages to your home and your belongings.

If you have more boxes than you anticipated that is fine. If the number of boxes or furniture items is close to the original amount you had informed your Moving Specialist, that is not an issue. If you originally told your Moving Specialist, you had 50 boxes, but you have 200 boxes then we would need to be informed of this prior to your move so we can properly schedule our day. If your move takes two times as long as it was expected to then that may put strain on the movers since they may have another customer to move after your move.

Yes, most, but not all our moving trucks have hydraulic lift gates on them. If you have very heavy or cumbersome items to be moved, then we will likely need to use a truck equipped with a hydraulic lift gate to safely move your belongings.

No, we do not move structures such as sheds, storages, or mobile homes. We move commercial and household goods such as furniture, boxes, and other similar items.

Yes, we can move your swing set. The swing set will need to be fully disassembled to safely fit in one of our trucks and the assembly will be completed by a third party and not by a Midwest Moving Company crew member.

If you are eligible for one of the discounts we offer to Veterans, Military members, Law Enforcement, returning customers, and all healthcare workers, then please notify our office staff that you are a member of one of the previously listed groups and they will apply the discount to your quote. Please be mindful that the discount only applies to local moves that are within 50 miles of one of our home terminals. Please be aware you may be asked to provide proof that you are eligible for one of our discounts to ensure we are not making a mistake as to which discount you qualify for. Some discounts may be more or less than others. Unfortunately, we do not allow the discounts to be stacked, but we will always apply the discount that is of higher value to ensure you save as much money as possible.
